Along the way, we also formed a new and unique partnership with our sister company Industrial Light & Magic, and worked closely with Krome Studios in Australia on the PS2 and PSP versions of the game. As the first internally-developed title from LucasArts in quite some time, we bit off several huge challenges, including: building a brand new game engine and tools from scratch for two new (at the time we started, anyway) platforms (including PlayStation 3) crafting a new story that bridges the gap between the two Star Wars trilogies assembling a new team that had never worked together before and integrating new and cutting-edge simulation-based technologies. Following a unique storyline revolving around Darth Vader's secret apprentice, that parallels the events of Star Wars: Episode III and Episode IV, The Force Unleashed II revels in addictive and over-the-top.

When I do look back on the development effort, I'm amazed and humbled by the fact that we actually managed to finish the game. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II is a single player action game for PS3 and sequel to 2008's Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. My personal favorite is Squeaky Clean, which you can earn by keeping your tactical visor (you guessed it) squeaky clean.Playstation Blog: The game is finally done, after several years of hard work by an incredibly talented team, and I can now just enjoy playing the game and begin to reflect on the experience of building it. As you make your way through the game’s you’ll earn trophies for everything from completing campaigns to fending off droids. Of course, no Aspyr port would be complete without new trophies to hunt. That’s why we updated the controls to feel just right on the DualShock 4 and DualSense controllers (playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility). What worked in 2005 doesn’t translate perfectly to modern hardware. We’ve done our best to faithfully recreate the original Star Wars Republic Commando feel with a few modern twists. Same 2005 Classic, new modernized controls Boba Fett, Jango Fett, and fearless Delta Squad leader Delta Three-Eight have all been voiced by Temuera Morrison, who recently reprised the role of Boba Fett in season two of The Mandalorian. Of course, that’s not the only connection Delta Squad has to the Star Wars universe at large.

You may not have played Star Wars Republic Commando, but you might recognize Delta Squad from the TV show Star Wars: The Clone Wars in the episode “Witches From the Mist.” Fun fact: this is the first appearance of a clone commando unit in that series! Your squad can even revive you when you fall in battle! A Superfan’s delight The game of ‘The Force Unleashed II’, however, was really little more than a button basher with no real story to speak of. These maneuvers include commands to perform special tasks like demolitions or door breaches, search and destroy commands, and calls for your squad to form-up behind you. The main strength of the original Force Unleashed computer/video game was that it possessed an excellent storyline which also managed to successfully fit into the events of the films and the expanded Star Wars universe. Sure, your squadmates can maintain formation and execute tactics on their own, but the key to success is directing your squad to victory. The squad is your weapon, especially when you call the shots with maneuvers. You’ll play as Delta Squad leader RC-1138, AKA Delta Three-Eight, AKA “Boss,” but no clone is alone. The game adds a tactical layer to the first person shooter genre with squad commands.
In Star Wars Republic Commando, you’ve got your trusty blaster rifle and your squad of elite clone troopers at your side. Originally released in 2008 for NDS, PSP, PS2, Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is coming to Nintendo Switch on April 20, 2022. It’s been a few years since the original release, so allow me to reintroduce you to Star Wars Republic Commando and Delta Squad.
That’s right, Aspyr Media is bringing Star Wars Republic Commando to PlayStation 4 for the first time April 6 and yes, we included a platinum trophy. We’re happy to say that your requests will finally be answered. Trust me, we’ve read many, many, many tweets and comments requesting it. Republic Commando is a fan favorite, and nobody knows that better than Aspyr.
